Fun Winter Activities
Do you want to make the most of your winter? Have you run out of ideas for fun things to do? Well then look no further! Today I'll be going over some of my favourite things to do in the winter/festive time. I definitely thrive in Winter, so I always try and make the most of it! If you do any of these activities, I'd love to know how you got on!
There's nothing more relaxing them spending your weekends in the winter months going for crisp walks in nature. As long as you wrap up warm, it's so lovely to hear the crunch of the icy leaves and see the snow on the ground. If you like in a city, it can also be so nice just to go for a walk around the streets to see the Christmas lights and decorations everywhere. It's a super relaxing, fun things to do in the winter time that's completely free!
Baking and Cooking
There are so many yummy things to eat in the winter time, especially at Christmas, so get your apron on and make some exciting new things! In regards to cooking, you could try your hand at a full roast dinner, or a New Year pie, which is a tradition in Scotland. If baking is more your style, why not try a Christmas pudding, or some cinnamon brownies?
Sometimes you get in from work and it's dark outside, and you just don't want to leave the comfort of your house. So why not draw the curtains, turn on some fairy lights, and stick on a festive film. I actually did a blog post on some of my favourite Christmas films last month, so check that out for some inspiration on what to watch. You could combine this with your baking for some fun snacks to eat while you enjoy your film.
Visit a German Market
German markets are a staple of Christmas time, at least for me. It's so much fun to walk around and look at everything for sale in the stalls, and to take in the smells of all the wonderful food cooking away. The Edinburgh German Market is amazing; there's also a Christmas tree maze and an ice skating rink. There's nothing more Christmassy than that!
Another one to do on a cold night at home, treat yourself to a spa evening! The cold weather can often do damage to your skin, so taking care of yourself can make you feel so much better. Purchase some face masks and a nice bath bomb, and light a candle...it'll make for a lovely evening! You could also make your own face mask out of ingredients you have in the kitchen!
Go to the Theatre
The theatre at Christmas time is so magical. There are some fantastic shows you can normally see at this time of year, including plays like The Snowman. Although a clique, going to see the ballet can also be a super fun things to do in the winter time, especially if you see something like Swan Lake.
Decorate the Christmas Tree
Of course, what else are you going to do at this time of year? Why not combine a couple of these ideas and have the perfect evening in, including snacks, a spa night, a movie on the TV, and put up the Christmas tree! Nothing gets you in the festive spirit more than lighting up the fairy lights and putting your favourite baubles on the tree!
And so those are my ideas for fun winter activities. I'd love to know what some of your favourite things to do in the winter time are; let me know in the comments of this blog post, or through social media:
