My Bucket List
It's a new year, and it's time for a refresh of my bucket list, and I thought...why now share this here to inspire someone else out there! Hopefully this will inspire someone to put together their own bucket list. I first thought about splitting this up into two parts; one is general bucket list items, and the other is places I'd really like to go, but it would have ended up being too long, so I've gone for just general bucket list items for today, but let me know if you'd like to see places I'd like to go!
Please note that this is just a selection off of my bucket list; I've not included some of the more personal things, and just included the bigger items that I'd really like to do! Also, this list is not in any particular order. So without further ado, let's get going!
Swim with sharks
For a lot of people, this is a bit of a basic one, along with swimming with dolphins, etc. However for me, it's not only a super cool experience, but it would also be personal growth, as I am very afraid of sharks. Not only that, but I'm also very afraid of deep, open water, so getting out there and swimming with sharks would be a huge achievement and a big step for me. I have an even bigger fear of whales, but I don't think I'll ever be ready for that step, so this is a nice middle ground!
Fly in a hot air balloon
This always looks like such an amazing experience. To be able to fly over an area in such a peaceful mode of transport would be such a cool way to get to see that area. I can imagine myself flying over the Taj Mahal, but I'd settle for the hills of Scotland too!
Fly a plane
This would be such a cool experience. Even just for five minutes to take control of a small plane and fly...I'm sure it would be a thrilling sensation. I do get motion sick quite easily, so it might have to be a bit of a shorter experience if I were to do this one!
Stay at Lion Lodge
This has been on my bucket list for a long time. Unfortunately for me it's eye wateringly expensive, but I think it would be an amazing experience. Based on a reservation in England, this gives you the opportunity to stay in a lodge that it partly within the lion enclosure, so they can come right up to your window. There are lots of other similar animal experiences, but I think the lions would be such a cool one!
Do the Everest Base Camp Trek
This is probably my biggest long shot on this list, as in the one I'm least likely to get to do. That being said, it would be so awesome to get to take the long trek up the Himalayas to the base camp of Everest expeditions. I've seen YouTubers like Kara and Nate give it a go, and while it seems like an intense physical and mental challenge, I would love to do it.
See the Northern Lights
You might be surprised that I've never actually done this, living in a pretty Northern country. I live in the South of said Northern country though, so it's very rare to see the Northern Lights here, and if you do they are so faint. I would love to be able to see them in all of their glory. If I had to pick one thing to be my number one bucket list item, it would probably be this one.
Visit every continent
I think this is on a lot of people who love to travel's bucket lists. I would love to be able to say that I've visited every continent. So far, I've only been to Europe and North America, but there are so many places in all of the other continents I'd love to go to and experience, including Antarctica!
Visit every Disney park
Did you expect anything less from me? It would be amazing to get to experience all of the different Disney parks around the world; they're all so different! So far I've been to Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney World. The plan is to visit Tokyo Disney in 2022, but we'll see how this whole pandemic thing goes!
Get another degree
Yes, I've included a non-travel related one here. I'd love to get another degree. I currently have an undergraduate one in Psychology and Business, and a Masters degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice. I seriously love learning; I quite often take an evening I'm spending on the sofa to learn all about a random new subject. It would be amazing to be able to do a third degree part-time...we'll see what the future holds!
Live in another country
This is something I really want to do, not only for the cool experience but I think it is a great way to achieve personal growth and learn about another culture. I'd love to get the chance to live, even for 6 months, in another country and absolutely make the most of it!
And that's my bucket list; I hope you enjoyed and maybe got some inspiration from it. Do you have your own bucket list? Let me know what's on it in the comments below! Have you done any of the items on my list? Show me on social media!
