My New Years Resolutions
To be honest, I'm not normally one for really making New Years Resolutions, nor do I tend to celebrate the new year! However this year I think we're all grateful for the passing of time and the start of 2021, so I thought I'd join in the fun and put together some of my New Years Resolutions - so now you have to hold me accountable for them!
Number 1: Travel to New Places
This was something I was hoping to do more of in 2020, but obvious reasons meant I wasn't able to do so. As such, I'm hoping to be able to explore new areas of the world in 2021. If I'm able to travel outside of the country, I'd love to take the time to experience some European countries I've never been to, such as Germany and Iceland. If that isn't possible, I hope to explore my own back garden a little more, including visiting Wales (the only country in the UK I haven't been to) and visiting places in my own country of Scotland that I've never been to before, including some of the islands.
Number 2: Take Advantage of Festive Experiences
Towards the end of 2020 I started to embrace different festive traditions I haven't tried before. For example, in Autumn I embraced fall walks and pumpkin picking for the first time in my life, and I had the best time. This winter I'm hoping to have some fun with winter lights displays. I've really enjoyed getting in the festive spirit each season, and so I hope to continue this going into 2021.
Number 3: Taking Care of Myself
I think this is always on everybody's list of New Years Resolutions, but I really want to try and take this seriously this year. While of course this means eating healthier, it also includes listening to myself and what I need and taking time for myself each day even when it's busy. This means eating three square meals a day (so no more snacking!) and going to bed when I feel tired. I'm also going to try and read more and do mindfulness every day. I really enjoy using the Calm app, and I'm going to try and use it every day where possible (this isn't an ad, I swear).
Number 4: Try Some New Experiences
In 2021 I want to do something I've never done before; something really memorable. That might be something crazy like skydiving (although I doubt it), or it might be moving to a new country...who knows, the world is my oyster! I'm going to try and take every new experience that comes my way, even if it seems frightening at first!
Number 5: Expand GlobalSolo
Most importantly, I want my 2021 to be focused on improving GlobalSolo. I'm so proud of the work I've done on it this year and where this blog has got to, but my main goal in 2020 was to create a back catalogue of blogs, so that I had a good starting point to work on in 2021. Therefore this coming year my goal is to not only improve the quality of my posts and its content, but also to get the word out there about my blog and start building the readership. Therefore it would be greatly appreciated if you could give the blog a share and spread the word!
And that does it for my New Years Resolutions for 2021. I'd love to know what yours are; please share them in the comments below!
