The Best Autumnal Activities
Today, as part of my autumn series, I'm going over some of my favourite things to do in the autumn season. Taking part in these activities really puts me in the fall spirit, and so I thought I'd share them with the wider community so you can do them too perhaps!
Scary Movie Night
I mean, it's a classic for a reason, right? I love scary movies. I have a weird superpower that I can watch any scary film and sleep like a baby afterwards! Therefore my idea of the perfect scary movie night involves some seriously spooky stuff, including some of my favourites:
However there are also some great ones for those who would prefer something more light hearted, including:
I actually talked more about my favourite scary movies here if you would like more recommendations.
I like to combine my scary movie nights with a pizza, blankets, and lights off of course!
Drive In Movie
Continuing the theme of movies, I experienced my first drive in movie this year; you can read more about that here. This was a super fun thing to do this autumn, especially as it gets dark sooner so it made for a really cool experience. I went to see Alien, which was great to watch with the stars out! I think this is a fun activity to do all year round, but there was something about being there at night with some sweets and blankets that was so cool!
It's not the spooky season for nothing, right? If you're into this kind of thing, doing something interactive and spooky is a lot of fun! I've done a blog post about some of the best autumnal things to do in Edinburgh which includes ghost tours, but I'm sure most places have some kind of spooky experience to do! Ghost tours are so much fun to do with a large group, especially if you have a few scaredy-cats who will provide some fantastic screams! I recommend finishing the evening with something a bit more relaxing, like dinner at a casual restaurant to take some of the fear away!
A great way to spend a rainy day indoors is to do some festive baking! Websites like Pinterest and Instagram have some amazing inspiration for some fun things you can bake, but if I'm honest, I always tend to go for baking out of the box as it certainly isn't my forte! I also recommend putting some autumnal music on in the background while you work; this is a great one!
Candles and a Book
Another great thing to do on a rainy day indoors is to crack open a book! As clique as it sounds, I really like sitting by the window with one of my favourite stories, and a couple of candles on the go! Harry Potter is always an autumnal favourite for me, but, as the new Twilight book came out recently, I've been giving the series a re-read again. I've really enjoyed my pumpkin candle from Next this year, as well as some Bath and Body Works classics!
One of the best things about autumn is the changing of the leaves and the crunching beneath your feet! Therefore taking the time each day to go on a fresh walk is so lovely. I've generally been enjoying walking in the mornings while it's still quiet outside...sometimes I can spot a squirrel or even a deer! Walking in the woods is always a seasonal favourite!
Once a classic, always a classic! This year was actually the first time I'd ever been pumpkin picking, and it was great! It felt so good to pick your own perfect pumpkin and take it home to display outside my front door. The whole experience was super fun from start to finish; I'll have a blog post about it coming up soon so keep an eye out!
And so those are my favourite things to do in autumn. I'd love to know what you like to do; feel free to share them with me in social media:
